The elaborate cartouche depicts a woman wearing a headdress of peacock feathers sitting with a child on the banks of a river. Also depicted is a second child astride a lion, using a long thong to lead a large and reluctant bird. The artist, Phillip Tidemann, has added snakes, a crocodile, water birds, fruit, vegetation and severed elephant tusks.
