Jakob Malgas gathering tsamma melons (Citrullus lanatus) on the dunes in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Depending on where the melons grow in the park, they will have a different chemical composition, and therefore, taste due to centuries of water accumulation, evaporation and drought.Images from this trip document the first excursions into the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and were a central part of the work on oral history and mapping in the first years of research.
