A garimpeiro (an independent prospector for minerals) from the Congo (then referred to as Zaire) pans a river in the Lunda Norte Province of Angola for diamonds. The mass exodus of mining companies and civilians from the diamond towns and cities of Lunda Norte gave many foreigners the chance to become rich.
