He was very politically active and was outspoken on a number of issues impacting San culture. This included speaking to the United Nations about the ǂKhomani San Land Claim and the theft of indigenous knowledge by international corporations. He died in 2012. Hugh Brody is comparative anthropologist and a writer who holds the Canada Research Chair in Aboriginal Studies at the University of the Fraser Valley Abbotsford, British Columbia. He has been conducting research with the ǂKhomani San since 1996.

Bill Kemp, doing basic research for the Strata maps with Jakob Malgas, holds a recorder into which he spoke his notes and information as it was gathered. Kemp made several trips to the park during the 1997-1999 investigation period. Images from this trip document the first excursions into the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and were a central part of the work on oral history and mapping in the first years of research.
