Thereafter based in Port Elizabeth where raced by Dennis Guscot for owner Aldo Seribante. Thereafter passed through a few hands ending up in Cape Town in the hands of Henry Reid who intended racing it in the 1971 3 hour endurance race fitted with front upright and h 1300 cc Holbay unit and 5 speed gearbox. Unfortunately crashed in practice due to broken front upright and car then stripped of mechanicals and abandoned at Koos Swanepoel's farm. Acquired by present owner in March 1972 in very sorry condition and then rebuilt in time for Drag meeting on 10-06-1972 running a 14.4. sec. on first outing. Sponsorship from Meritext made further development possible and the car ended the season with the 1972 W.P Drag Championship under its belt, having had very close competition throughout the year from Bob Busby's Jaguar E Type V12. In the first two meetings of the current season, the car has chalked up max points for running fastest car at both meetings, although with the anticipated entry from other racing cars at the next meeting a serious challenge may materialise.Photo: F.
