The road, now being made, will have double-width traffic lanes and the route will by-pass the populous areas of Parow and Goodwood, seen on the left, as well as Wingfield airport. The new highway will open up a vast area of as yet undeveloped country.

Familiar landmark of the Table Bay power station will soon be gone. It is to be demolished by a Port Elizabeth scrap-metal firm and its machinery and metal parts sold throughout the country. The power station, built in 1905, is the oldest in South Africa. The picture was taken from the air.
