The Civic Centre contains a civic theatre, council chamber and administrative offices. A city hall will be added in 1967. The "Cape Times" will publish next Wednesday, November 4, a special supplement on the great progress that has been made in recent years at Bellville.

- Arrival of Lord Kitchener at the Cape Town Docks to take over command in South Africa on 29 November, 1900. - Senior citizens of Cape Town turned out in style to see Lord Kitchener arrive in Cape Town during the South African War. This picture, of the British Army stepping down a gangplank, is one of many historic pictures in the Cape Times photographic exhibition, "Cape Town Down the Years", which is now on view at the Shell Gallery in Greenmarket Square, Cape Town. The exhibition, which is part of the Cape Town Festival, closes next Friday (April 29). It is open on Mondays to Fridays from 10am to 4.30pm, but closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
