Description: More than 100 Navy technical trainees from Wingfield tackled the mammoth task of trying to clean the beach between Milnerton lagoon and Blouberg. The operation, which took place during a three-week recess of the SA Defence Force Technical Institute, was chosen because most of the debris fouling that beach came from passing shipping. Picking up rubbish are, from left, ratings Lloyd Ventre, David Sivertsen, Harold Beyers, Johan Roux, Harold Harte, Michael Terblanche and David Williams.
